Confidence in God
From Self-Doubt to God’s Favorite: A Self Confidence Glow-Up
Let’s be real, some days, your confidence is on ten, and other days, you’re questioning if your reflection is plotting against you. Maybe your edges won’t lay right, your outfit is not coming together, or Instagram has you feeling like everyone else has life figured out. Spoiler Alert: They don’t ! Also your worth isn’t measured by Instagram likes, bad hair days, or even that one time you accidentally sent a text meant for your bestie to your crush (we don’t talk about that). Your confidence comes from something much deeper, your identity in Christ.
Step 1: Stop Comparing, Start Celebrating
Comparison is the thief of joy, peace, confidence and probably the good mood you were in. Instead of scrolling and sighing, start celebrating what makes you you. God made you uniquely and intentionally, Psalm 139:14 says you are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” That means you’re handcrafted, not mass produced.
Step 2: Talk to Yourself Like God Talks About You
Imagine if you spoke to your best friend the way you sometimes speak to yourself: “Omg, you’re so awkward. Why would you say that? You sound so dumb.” Girl, yall would not be besties for long! God calls you loved (Jeremiah 31:3), chosen (1 Peter 2:9), and enough (2 Corinthians 12:9). It’s time to update your inner dialogue accordingly.
Step 3: Keep a “Heavenly Reminders Jar”
Ever forget all the nice things God or even people have said about you? Keep a note in your phone, a journal, or even a jar with hand written reminders of compliments, affirmations, and reminders of what God says about you. On those tough days, open it up and be reminded of you are, that girl.
Step 4: Get in the Word, Not Just the Mirror
Sure, looking in the mirror and checking your reflection is cool, but when is the last time you have checked in with God? Spending time in the Bible builds confidence from the inside out. Proverbs 3:26 says, “The Lord will be your confidence.” That means your glow up isn’t just physical it is spiritual. And I know what you’re thinking, yes the Bible can be difficult to understand. However, start slow, find the version that is easiest for you, and let the Holy Spirit lead you.
Step 5: Walk Like You Belong..Because You Absolutely Do
Confidence isn’t about being perfect, it’s about knowing whose you are. Walk with boldness, power, knowing that you are loved, purposed and covered in grace. And the next time self-doubt or insecurity tries to slide into your DMs. Leave it on read!
