How to Seek God Everywhere (Even When You Feel Lost)

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” – Jeremiah 29:13

Have you ever wondered why it feels like God speaks to everyone but you?
Maybe you’ve sat in church and thought, “Why can’t I hear Him like they do?”
Or maybe you’ve prayed, fasted, and waited… but heaven still felt silent.

I used to feel that same frustration. Until I changed my perspective and genuinely started seeking God everywhere.

How God Speaks, Even When You Feel Like He Isn’t

Many of us believe that God only speaks in big, dramatic moments:
A prophetic word at the altar. A burning bush moment. An audible voice.

But most of the time, God whispers.
He speaks through His Word, a gentle nudge, a conversation, a sunrise, a quiet trail… if only we’d pay attention.

I’ve been trying to prioritize walking in the morning for two reasons. One, because your girl could stand to lose a pound or two and because I want to spend quiet time with God. Yesterday, I found a new trail that took me around this small pond. I was really excited and amazed at all the random birds and insects living their best life. Until I looked up and realized there was nothing but trees on both sides of me. At this point you’re probably thinking “Why not just turn around and go back the way you came?” Yeaaa I have no clue, I guess I was feeling adventurous and wanted to see where the trail would end up. Needless to say I ended up lost and frustrated.

Eventually, after unnecessary twists and turns, I ended up back on the trail that would lead me back to my neighborhood. As I realized my face was all frowned up out of frustration, I heard God whisper to me, “You do this often.” I immediately thought of all the times God, laid out a very clear path for me to follow that would take me to my destination, however, I thought I knew a shortcut or better way to get there and ended up wasting time, lost or frustrated.

God has a sense of humor.

Seek Him Everywhere

Sis, God is not silent.
Sometimes our expectations are too narrow. We look for Him only in church or during our prayer time.
But He is speaking in…

The smile of a stranger
A verse that pops up unexpectedly
A song that plays at just the right time
A quiet moment on a trail when you’re feeling lost, literally and spiritually

God wants to be found in the ordinary moments.
His presence isn’t limited to Sundays or quiet times; it’s woven into every step, every breath.

Jesus didn’t die just so we could visit Him on Sundays; He wants relationship everywhere.

“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’” – Isaiah 30:21

If you’re frustrated because you feel like you can’t hear Him, ask yourself:

Am I open to seeing Him in new ways?
Am I slowing down long enough to listen?
Am I willing to believe He’s speaking—right here, right now?

Final Encouragement

If you feel lost, distant, or too far from God, remember my trail.
Even when I didn’t know where I was—He did.
He knows where you are, too.
He is closer than you think.
And if you’ll look up—look around—seek Him with your whole heart…
You’ll find Him everywhere.
